The easiest form of soybean consumption is through soymilk.
Since 2006, NEI opened five soymilk processing facilities to produce soy milk for women and children in high maternal mortality areas. From each of our 5 facilities, approximately 3,000 women and children receive soymilk 3 times a week. Soymilk is processed on-site and then delivered to surrounding villages, many of which are rural and impoverished.
In 2010
- NEI reached 500,000 women and children with soymilk supplemental feedings. In the coming year, NEI will operate four soymilk distribution programs, reaching more than 3,000 at-risk women and children every day.
- In collaboration with UNICEF, NEI started the soy biscuit distribution in schools, as well as, supplying soy milk to pregnant women throughout the provinces.
